Orcas Island

Orcas Island is an island in the Pacific Northwest.  We moved here to get out of city life and be closer to nature, to raise our kids in a peaceful and beautiful place.  I live in a house, up on a hill, in a beautiful spot where I am surrounded by trees, rocks, wind and nature.  Simply put, this place is amazing.

Orcas is a1.5 drive outside of Seattle plus an hour ferry ride, if you include wait times for the ferry and traffic; sometimes it can be about a 3-4 hour trip, and this does not include summertime when you might have to wait even longer at the ferry landing.  It can be a trek, but it is worth it.  It is one of the most beautiful places I have seen and I am so lucky to call it home.  A year and a half later, I am still pinching myself in disbelief that I call this place my home.

Orcas is the largest of the San Juans, and the second most populated, San Juan Island being the first.  You can find more info about Orcas at the Chamber of Commerce  which pretty much lists all our local resources and events.  It's a fun town, you should visit!  I feel I have found more community here in the short time I have been here than in the Bay Area California, where I was born and raised.  I guess there is something to be said for the small town feel.  My heart warms in this place, there is something that feels right about it here. . .
